Cambio de aceite hidráulico frenos Shimano M486

Replacement of brake oil on Shimano M486 disc-brakes

Vamos a necesitar:

We will need:

- Líquido hidráulico para frenos de disco (puede ser Shimano o de otra marca, mientras sea mineral).

- Hydraulic disc-brakes oil for bikes (can be Shimano or other brand, but must be mineral)

- Una jeringa de, al menos, 5 ml.

- One syringe of at least 5 ml.

- Un trozo de manguera de diámetro exterior 6mm, en lo posible transparente.

- One piece of platic hose, 6mm ext. diam., transparent when possible.

 

Como se puede ver en las fotos, en mi caso utilicé el aceite Royal Blood de Magura (de color azul), por ser mucho mas barato que el Shimano.

As can be seen in the pictures, I used Royal Blood from Magura (blue), because it's much cheaper than the Shimano.

Lo primero que haremos es cortar un trozo pequeño de manguera (3 o 4 cm) para conectar posteriormente la jeringa al circuito.

The first step is to cut a small piece of hose (around 3 or 4 cm) to connect the syringe to the circuit.

El siguiente paso es vaciar el circuito del aceite viejo. Para ello:

The next step is to discharge the circuit from the old oil. To do this:

1. quitaremos el tapón de goma de la salida de purgado del freno (ver foto) // remove the rubber tap from the purge (see picture),
2. conectaremos el trozo largo de manguera por un extremo a la salida de purgado y por otro a un recipiente para recoger el aceite // connect the large hose by one end to the purge and the other end to an empty recipien,
3. quitaremos la tapa que cubre el recipiente cercano a la maneta del freno // remove the cover of the oil deposit near to the brake lever,
4. abriremos la salida de purgado utilizando una llave del 7 (tuerca de 7 mm de espesor) // open the purge using a wrench Nº7 (7mm nut)
5. apretaremos el freno hasta que no salga mas aceite // press the brake lever until no more oil comes out from the purge,

Para reponer aceite se debe realizar inyectandolo desde la pinza, para que el aceite suba y expulse el aire del circuito por el recervorio de la maneta 

To replace the oil the new one should be injected from the brake caliper, using the same purge output, to allow the oil to expulse the remaining air in the circuit through the brake lever reservoir. 

Se utilizará la jeringa con el tramo corto de manguera. Con 5 ml de aceite (lo que cabe en la jeringa) debería ser suficiente para llenar el circuito y que salga aceite por el reservorio. Es importante permitir que el nuevo aceite salga por el reservorio superior porque eso confirmará que hemos quitado el aire del circuito.

The syringe will be used to charge the oil in the circuit, using the short piece of hose. With 5ml oil (the volume of the syringe) should be enough to refill the circuit and allow some oil to burst in the brake lever reservoir. Is important to allow the oil to burst from the reservoir, as this will guarantee that there is no air in the circuit.
